Values
We founded this studio because we saw a clear need for a third space in which people can craft and heal together, especially for communities of color. We believe everyone has creative ability and we believe in transparency, open communications, and accountability at all levels.
Caring for our neighbors
Our programming is deeply informed by conversations we have had with our long-term neighbors and is aimed at celebrating the Black culture that has been central to the identity of this part of Brooklyn for decades. We believe that their presence is what makes our city great and want to foreground their perspectives in our approach.
Accessibility
We deeply care about ensuring that people of all backgrounds and financial means have access to ceramics as an art form and will offer classes and memberships at tiered levels.
A community-first approach
Pottery is an ancient craft that was passed on in communal settings long before it was taught in studio-settings. We believe in community, collaborative learning, and nurturing self directed growth. For that reason, peer-learning, and radical togetherness are at the heart of our studio.
